Edinburgh Zoo’s 20-year Masterplan sets out how it plans to evolve and create a series of zones that reflect the world’s biomes – wetland, rain forest, and so on. Navyblue were asked to design and build a permanent exhibition for the foyer of the zoo to give visitors a real feel for the proposals, and let them know more about the zoo’s important conservation initiatives.
To turn a serious development plan into a fun, educational experience, we embraced a theatrical approach, including a number of live exhibits. We were careful to consider the wide range of potential audiences – from friends of the zoo, to school groups and families.
In line with the evolutionary Masterplan, the exhibition can be
modified as the plan develops and individual projects are
completed.
