Boots Gift Cards

Reshaping tradition

When Boots decided to replace their traditional paper gift vouchers in time for the Festive Season, the project team turned to Navyblue for inspiration. The solution - the new plastic credit card style card.

In a challenging brief, which included structural, logistical, emotive and creative issues, a set of cards was required to reflect target groups identified by Boots as well as generic versions to account for all tastes, ages and occasions.

The solution needed to be self-sufficient, acting as gift card, carrier, packaging and point of sale, which could either be hung in-store or merchandised in freestanding units. The requirement to keep the magnetic strip at the bottom of the card free for swiping through the till at the point of purchase added to the structural and design challenge.

The resulting set of gift cards hit the stores in time for the busy Christmas period and proved extremely popular with customers. The gift cards have turned out so successful that Boots have since produced further editions for additional target groups.
